Vietnam, Japan share experience for further cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam to organize a seminar on December 11 to share information, exchange experience and cooperation in economics, trade and investment.

Japanese Envoy Katsuro Nagai affirmed that Viet Nam is an attractive investment destination of Japanese businesses and there are huge potentials for bilateral cooperation.

He expected that the seminar will create an opportunity for the two sides to exchange specific measures on cooperation in the future to promote the two nations’ relations and enhance Japan’s investment promotion activities in Viet Nam.

Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Chikahiro Masuda confirmed that the two nations’ cooperation will be strengthened in six main areas including electronics, agricultural machines, agricultural and aquaculture processing, shipbuilding, environment and energy saving, car production and accessories.

Currently, Japan is supporting Viet Nam to establish action plans for these six areas.

Delegates at the seminar proposed the Vietnamese Government improve the investment environment to facilitate Japanese investors.

Japan has been the largest Official Development Assistance (ODA) provider for Viet Nam over the recent 20 years.

Japan ranked second and fourth among the largest investors and trade partners of Viet Nam. As many as 1,400 Japanese businesses are operating in Viet Nam, contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.
