Agricultural exports fetch over US$2 billion in January

Export turnover of agricultural products was estimated at US$2.33 billion, down 3.1% against the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Of which, overseas shipment of key agricultural products valued US$1.16 billion, up 2.8% against 2015.

Specifically, in January, rice export earned US$218 million from 495,000 tons, up 46% and 56.7%, respectively, against the same period last year.

Around 149,000 tons of coffee was shipped abroad for US$264 million, up 8% in quantity but down 9.1% in value in comparison with the same period last year.

Rubber export pocketed US$120 million in value, posting a year-on-year decline of 10.5%

About 9,000 tons of tea was exported for US$15 million, down 3.2% in quantity and 9.4% in value.

Furniture export reached US$489 million (down 15.8% against the same period last year. Aquatic export was estimated at US$455 million (down 8.8% against the same period of 2015)./.
