Over 805,000 foreign tourists arrive in Vietnam in January

More than 805,000 foreigners visited Viet Nam in January, posting a month-on-month growth of 5.8% and a year-on-year surge of 12.3%, according to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

 

According to the updated data, all Viet Nam’s large tourism markets namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (Rok), Russia, Taiwan and the U.S. witnessed high growths in the first month of 2016.

In January, Viet Nam welcomed 149,330 tourists from the RoK, up 28.2% from the same period in 2015. In spite of economic difficulties, the number of Russian tourists to Viet Nam went up 23.7% from January last year.
 
The number of visitors from the European market especially those from visa-exemption countries also increased. The number of Italian visitors to Viet Nam increased 28.8% from January, 2015, the sharpest growth in the market, followed by the UK (20.6%), Germany (16%), Spain (14.3%) and France (9.9%).
 
Viet Nam’s larger travel agencies have achieved impressive results from the beginning of the year.
This year, VNAT targets to earn VND 370 trillion (US$16.65 billion) from serving 8.5 million foreign visitors and 60 million domestic tourists./.
