During the visit, the Cuban top legislator held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; paid courtesy calls on Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and State President Tran Dai Quang; and met with PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
He also delivered a speech at a plenary session of the National Assembly and attended a Q&A session.
NA Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez and his entourage visited the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and had a working session with officials of the State Bank of Viet Nam. They also visited Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre and Son La provinces.
The Cuban officials also attended a Vietnam-Cuba friendship meeting held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO).
On the occasion, the delegation also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Ha Noi, visited and wrote on the memoir book at the Ho Chi Minh Stilt House in the President Palace, and laid flowers at the statue of Cuban Hero Jose Marti in Ha Noi.
At these meetings, the two sides expressed belief that with the sound political relations and everlasting solidarity, Viet Nam and Cuba will continue to promoting their friendship and cooperation, contributing to national construction and defense in each country and peace, stability and development in each region and the world.
Both sides underlined the necessity to further bolster bilateral ties, especially between the two friendship parliamentarian groups, while strengthening cooperation between the two legislatures in the coming time through the exchange of delegations at all levels to deepen mutual understanding and share information as well as experience in various fields.
At the same time, they will also continue reviewing and updating or signing new agreements, thus completing the legal framework for the development of bilateral ties in conformity with new situations in each country.
The two sides also affirmed their determination to raise two-way trade to be on a par with good political relations.
The two legislatures will continue promoting the implementation of cooperation programs and projects between the two countries, especially in agriculture and consumer product production in Cuba, as well as medical researching and producing, health care, tourism infrastructure, and energy.
The two sides agreed to continue work closely with and support each other at bilateral organizations and forums, especially the United Nations, serving the interest of each country and peace, stability and development of the two regions and in the world.
The two friendship parliamentarian groups will seek ways to enhance mutual understanding and foster the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies in the future./.
