Construction materials on the rise

Monday, 02 February 2015

After a slump due to rainy weather, the prices of steel and cement resumed rising as peak construction season started, as well as because of the influence of changes in exchange rate and commodities.

Some firms raised the price of construction steel by VND150,000-300,000 per ton to trade at VND15.5-15.8 million a ton, depending on brands and kinds.

Meanwhile, the amount of steel billet prepared for production was around 600,000 tons, which was expected to meet the demand in the next two months. Moreover, firms had also stockpiled 480,000 tons of steel billets. Thus, steel supply is expected to plentiful until the end of this year.

The Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation had just increased by VND50,000 per ton of cement to its prices.
