Gold prices hit one-month record high

The domestic price of gold on June 6 hovered at around VND42.7 million/tael, setting a record high over a month.

 

    At 4pm, SJC gold at Saigon Jewelry Company was transacted at VND42.5-42.7 million/tael, increasing by VND300,000/tael compared to the early morning.

 

    The price of SJC gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company was listed at VND42.56-42.74 million/tael.

    Gold prices rose up steeply on the global market rally and an increase in the exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong against the US dollar.

    In the European market, the world gold price on June 5 stood at US$1,635 per ounce, up US$10 against the previous transaction session.

    Meanwhile, one US dollar was exchanged for VND21,020 (buying) and VND21,050 (selling) in the black market, up VND60 per US dollar over the past day.

   The exchange rate was also adjusted to beat the VND21,000 per US dollar level at commercial banks.

   Both Vietcombank and Eximbank sold a US dollar for VND21,036.
