During his stay, the Vietnamese official paid a courtesy visit to President Reuven Rivlin, who described the visit as a contribution to fostering the friendship and co-operation between the two countries.

Minister Quang thanked Rivlin for facilitating collaboration between the Vietnamese ministry and Israeli law enforcement agencies in combating crime and ensuring security in their respective countries.

At a separate meeting, Quang and Israeli Minister of Defence Moshe Ya'alon agreed on measures to bolster co-operation in security and civil defence based on the signed memoranda of understanding on information protection and security co-operation.

During talks with his Israeli counterpart Yitzhak Aharonovich, Minister Quang said he appreciated the host's official visit to Viet Nam last February, as it helped develop the ministries' crime-fighting co-operation.

They discussed measures to increase information and experience exchanges and co-ordination in cracking down on cross-border, organised, high-tech and drug crimes and human trafficking. They also underlined the importance of collaboration when it came to ensuring security for trade, investment and tourism activities and agreed to promote negotiations on the signing of agreements on criminal extradition and transfer of sentenced persons. — VNS
